Welcome to the most ecological picnic in Helsinki on Helsinki Day!

The Food Waste Picnic brings people together 12th of June 12pm to 4pm at Lapinlahti to enjoy our Helsinki in the most environmentally friendly way possible. The idea behind the event is that all the food for the picnic will be sourced and prepared from waste food products.
The program also includes a waste food quiz and tips on how to apply circular economy ideas at home by Keru community fridge and a wastage workshop where you can make crafts from waste materials.

Participants are invited to find all the leftover food and ingredients in their fridges, freezers and cupboards that might be thrown away and bring them to the picnic for all to enjoy. You can either bring ingredients or prepare the food at home. Individuals, companies, associations, teams and everyone else is invited to the picnic. The only requirement is that you are ready to serve food prepared from waste food – the most important thing is to be open-minded and willing to experiment!

The waste food restaurant Loop will offer and sell its own picnic baskets containing its own items and those of cooperation partners. The actual contents of each basket will be a surprise!
